Creating a recap of our chapter’s Big Sibling Revealing events is a running tradition among Historians. This semester, we took the opportunity to recap the event with a non-linear narrative and a cinematic montage touch.
"Watch me put my war paint on" is a calling to the pledges to represent their families and to show their colors together.

Expanding on the non-linear cinematic style meant not just developing the aesthetic, but also including Clue Week — a tradition of the BSR event that hadn’t been highlighted in recap videos previously.
“Shelter” serves as the anthem to welcome our pledges under our roof and into our family as a united chapter.

With every facet of BSR on the table, we found that we could still adjust the narrative in the editing process. The changes were enough to give this recap its own identity.
As a personal touch, I’m thankful to have taken the opportunity to edit this with my own Little Sibling, Christine Orlino.
The journey of belonging in our brotherhood is often met with crisis. In these times, we look to our friends and mentors to lift us up — to help us feel good as we continue the odyssey.

Our brothers by this point know exactly what to expect from our recaps, especially with the music choices that evoke specific emotions. A faster-paced song meant adjusting the narrative to reflect the fun and excitement of BSR.
Regardless of the difficulties along the path, some will race ahead, and regardless of how easily the journey unfolds, some will struggle.
"Higher Ground" serves as a calling to the brothers and pledges alike to offer guidance and to lift each other up to a brotherhood that could last a lifetime.

With this recap, we sought to return to a slower pace in order to dedicate more time to the many moments that make up BSR.
Our path in life is stony, and while we may struggle with who we are inside, we can all join together. We can be there for each other, to reassure each other, and to accept each other, and to never forget who we are -- "Beautiful Creatures."

A break from creating these recaps afforded time to think about how to go the extra mile with creative visual storytelling. The 500 Days of Summer-inspired split-screen effect highlights the Big-Little dynamic while blending fast-paced montage cuts with longer shots.
Beyond our cardinal principles is the desire to show and tell -- to reveal the spirit of brotherhood within our fraternity. Our chapter of Alpha Phi Omega celebrates BSR to break boundaries and lay a foundation of fellowship for future generations.
